Slaughterford 2011
Blue skies for a change welcomed us to the start of this race at the Leafy Lane HQ in Corsham. Lots of shivering and conversation kept us entertained until the mass jog to the start line. Downhill to start with leading onto a track through the woods. Relatively dry and frozen underfoot made things easy going whilst everyone settled into their pace. The course is definitely undulating, but with as many downs and ups and some beautiful views along the way. Enthusiastic marshals at the water stations kept us going with drinks and orange slices, but didn’t prepare us for the slippery slope down into the icy river and the subsequent run along the river bed before sliding up the hill the other side. Feet warmed up quickly on the remaining ground where a short dip was a welcome respite before the last slog up the hill to the road and finish.
Did we run the hill??? Did we heck!
A thoroughly enjoyable run with good views, support and hilly challenge at the end. Well done Chippenham Harriers.
