Club Nights

Whether you are preparing for a race or trying to loose weight, regular training is important to maintain a good level of fitness and to prevent injury. Our club offers two training sessions per week all year round which run on a Tuesday and Thursday night starting at the Pewsey Sports Centre from 7pm. If you are thinking of becoming a member this is a great way to try us out first.

Our sessions are split seasonally between winter and summer where winter runs tend to be shorter, around 6 to 7 miles and mainly road. In the summer months we venture out further onto the hills and can run for around 7 to 12 miles sometimes getting across to Oare to view the magnificent bluebell woods in spring!

Despite us being of all abilities we do run at a similar pace. Those runners that are faster may decide to increase the route by adding on a loop but will “re-group” at the top of a hill or the end of the road to ensure we are all together. At no point is anyone left behind and often the faster runners will run to the back of the group to encourage those runners who are a slightly slower pace.

For those runners who cannot yet run for 6 or 7 miles, we now offer a beginners group run by Tina Watson, Club Secretary. For more information please click here.

Note that between April and September, on the 1st Tuesday of each month, the club night relocates to the Golden Swan in nearby Wilcot, and time trials are held. These are handicap events over a 5km distance on road, towpath and pathways, with handicaps based on recent performance so anyone can win. On the 1st Tuesday of the winter months - October through to March - time trials are held on road from Pewsey Sports Centre.

Anyone interested in joining can try us out before and equally if you are in the area or from another club and fancy a run, just turn up – you’ll be very welcome. It should go without saying that this applies to both ladies and gentlemen.
